Fifth Generation

5. Sir William5 Stradling (Sir Edward4, Sir Edward3, Peter de2 Estratlinges, John de1) was born in St. Donat's Castle, Glamorgan, Wales, the first event for which there is a recorded date. William died before Feb 1407. 
    During the rebellion of Owen Glyndwr, he was out of sympathy with the Welsh, and stood surety for William Langton as receiver of the lordship of Kidwelly in 1401-02 and was commissioned in September 1403, as sherriff, to investigate the possessions of rebels which had been carried off into Somerset and Dorset.
    He mad a pilgrimage to Jerusalem and was made a Knight of the Holy Sepulchre while there, thus serving as an inspiration to future generations of the family.
    He died before February 1407, as in that month his widow received the manor of Combe Hawey and lands at Watchet, valued together at 20 pounds per annum.

He married Isabel St. Barbe. Isabel was the daughter of Sir John St. Barbe.

Sir William Stradling and Isabel St. Barbe had the following child:
